 Betty Swanson, 86, of Port Orchard, Wash., died May 18, 2006. 

She was born Oct. 30, 1919, in Portland to Thomas Jefferson and Alma (Easton) 
Mitchell. She graduated from Kelso High School. 

Mrs. Swanson worked at Tip Top Cleaner and 1 Hour Martinizing. 

She married John Swanson June 25, 1937, in Kelso. He preceded her in death in 
1987. 

Mrs. Swanson is survived by a son, Gary Swanson; a daughter, Diane Van Anken; 
four grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren. 

A graveside service will be held at 2:30 p.m. Monday at Cowlitz View Memorial 
Gardens. 

Memorial contributions may be made to the Castle Rock Sports Program, care of 
Henry Kornoski at Castle Rock High School.
