Glova was born February 19, 1926 in Ketchum, OK to Glova, Sr. and Edith (Scott) Sweet. He graduated from Kelso High School in 1944, where he played football. Glova and Leona Dinger married in February 1951. He served in the US Navy during WWII as a landing craft operator aboard the USS Effingham. Glova was employed at Longview Fibre for 37 years, retiring in 1989 as a machine tender. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, golfing, gardening (especially cultivating dahlias), along with traveling each year to Reno, NV with his wife and good friends. Glova's most avid interest was baseball. He coached many area kids, including his own, in Little League for thirteen years. He took great pride in seeing his son, Rick, become a Major League Player. Glova belong to the American Legion and volunteered for the Cowlitz County Search & Rescue . Glova was preceded in death by his parents, Glova, Sr. and Edith Sweet, brothers; John P., Austin (Gene) and Hershul, sister; Hazel Settlemier, nephew; Delmar Hesselgesser, Jr. and step-father; William Eitel. Survivors include his wife, Leona, brothers; Paul (Betty), Frank (Edith), sister; Helen (Delmar) Hesselgesser, step-sister; Arlene Page, sons; Gary (Sharon), Ricky (Molly), Rocky (Frances), Steven and daughter; Tracy Sweet. Glova has thirteen grandchildren; Shawn, Chris, Justin, Michael, Mary, Roxanne, Skyler, Kyle, Trevor, Chase, Madison, Spencer, and Tanner. He has five great- grandchildren; Josh, Seth, Morgan, Austin, and Brianna, and many nieces and nephews. A memorial service will be held on Sunday, February 26, 1:00 PM at Steele Chapel in Longview.
