Clatyon Earl Tombleson, 87, recently of Longview, died May 26, 2006, at Hospice Care Center. He was born on April 1, 1919, in Lamar, Colo., to Roscoe and Mary Jane (Marrs) Tombleson. He graduated from Stanfield High School in 1938 and served in the U.S. Army during WWII worked as a lineman telephone and telegraph during his service, and was also stationed in China and India, and was honorably discharged as a Sergeant with the 463rd AAF BU. He married Elizabeth "Betty" Weller on Sept. 20, 1947, in Rainier, OR. He was an 80 year resident of the Rainier and Goble area. He worked with his father-in- law, Frank Weller, in logging and drove a truck for George VanFleet, a core truck and chip truck for Friesen Lumber in St. Helens and worked until retirement at Rainier Manufacturing. The Tomblesons also owned and operated the Goble Store. He was a member of the Sou'Wester Council for Square & Round dancing. He was also a Senior Citizen Member in St. Helens, Rainier and Clatskanie. He enjoyed golf, played basketball on the city league, loved weaving unique designs into lawn furniture, gardening and playing pool at the Senior Center. He had a wonderful sense of humor, was an extremely hard worker, uet a very gentle, kind and loving man. He was adored by all of his family and friends. He is preceded in death by his parents; one sister, Jewel Vickers; three brothers, Clifford, Clinton and Gordon Tombleson; great-granddaughter Landera Gwen Munger-Scharff; and a daughter-in-law, Elizabeth "Beth" Munger-Scharff. Survivors include daughters, Connie Engebreston of Longview; Sherrie (Don)Lange of Rainier, OR; Mary "MaryLu" Lucille (Perry) Barnwell; sons Roger Tombleson of Rochester, WA; Clayton "Neil" (Sherry) Tombleson of Olympia,WA and Randal "Randy" Steven (Ellen) Tombleson of Rochester, WA; brothers Wesley "Wes" (Bev)Tombleson of Salem, OR and Harry (Grace)Tombleson of Mt. Dora, FL; sister Lucille Proksel of Lake Oswego, OR and former wife Elizabeth "Betty" Algeciras of Longview. There are 11 grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren. There will be a memorial service at 1 p.m., Saturday June 3rd at the Rainier Assembly of God Church with Pastor Garry Seigenthaler officiating. Friends are welcome to pay respects at the Columbia Funeral Chapel in Longview on Friday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Memorial contributions may be made, in his memory, to Community Home Health and Hospice, P.O.
