He was born Oct. 8, 1921, in Winlock to Ella and Isidor Von Rotz. Mr. Von Rotz served in the Army Air Corps during World War II. He was a meat cutter, worked in local lumber mills and retired after 20 years as a timber faller for Weyerhaeuser Co. He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Mary Von Rotz; five children, Anna O'Shea, Jean Oakland, Joann Sanchez, John Von Rotz and Dave Von Rotz; 11 grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren. A rosary will be held at 10:30 a.m. and a Mass of Christian burial will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Winlock. A graveside service with military honors will follow at St. Urban Catholic Cemetery. A reception will be held in the church social hall.
