Herman Lawrence Von Rotz, 84, of Winlock died May 20, 2006. 

He was born Oct. 8, 1921, in Winlock to Ella and Isidor Von Rotz. 

Mr. Von Rotz served in the Army Air Corps during World War II. He was a meat 
cutter, worked in local lumber mills and retired after 20 years as a timber 
faller for Weyerhaeuser Co. 

He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Mary Von Rotz; five children, Anna 
O'Shea, Jean Oakland, Joann Sanchez, John Von Rotz and Dave Von Rotz; 11 
grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren. 

A rosary will be held at 10:30 a.m. and a Mass of Christian burial will be held 
at 11 a.m. Thursday at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Winlock. A graveside 
service with military honors will follow at St. Urban Catholic Cemetery. A 
reception will be held in the church social hall. 

Memorial contributions may be made to the Winlock-Vader Food Bank, care of Stan 
Taloff, 265 Bremgartner Road, Winlock, WA 98596 or the St. Urban Cemetery Fund, 
P.O. Box 69, Winlock, WA 98596.
