Irene Nathel Welch, 88, of Vancouver died May 9, 2006. 

She was born Sept. 1, 1917, in Casper, Wyo., to Alva and Margaret (Nichols) 
Martin. She graduated from Casper High School in 1935. 

She married Michael Lyle Welch on Aug. 4, 1951, in Vancouver. He preceded her 
in death March 8, 1988. 

Mrs. Welch is survived by four daughters, Karen Pettit, Phyllis Braun, Deanna 
Sullivan and Maureen Brosius; a son, Martin Welch; 13 grandchildren; and 14 
great-grandchildren. 

A service will be held at 2:30 p.m. Monday at Haakinson-Groulx Mortuary in 
Clatskanie. The viewing will be held from noon to service Monday at the funeral 
home. Private interment will take place at Knappa Cemetery in Knappa, Ore.
