Cresor and Mother Margaret (Belton) Cresor. Mabel met Joe White at a skating rink in Kelso in 1927 and they were married the same year. Their first home was a prune ranch in Richfield, Washington. After a few years, they moved to a small home on Columbia Heights Road. The house burned in 1937 and they built a new home on the same site. Their home was used as a black-out shelter during World War II. Mabel taught First Aid classes. They had three children, Georgia Rose (White) Peppers, Jojo (White) Johnson and Douglas A. White. After the children were raised, Mabel opened a florist shop, Wedding Bells Floral. Mabel and Joe built a beach home at Long Beach, Washington and in later years, a retirement home on Stella Road. After Joe retired, they traveled to a home in Arizona for six months out of the year. While in Arizona, Mabel learned to China paint and was soon teaching painting in her home. Joe passed away in March of 1988. In the later years, Mabel traveled with her granddaughter, Marie, to Switzerland and Paris to the World China Painters Conventions. Her paintings have been shown in the World Book of China painters. She was a charter member of Stella Lutheran Church and attended until her health prevented her from traveling. Mabel leaves a legacy of love that will continue for many generations to come, with 9 grandchildren, 21 great-grandchildren, and 15 great great-grandchildren. Services will be held at Stella Chapel, German Creek Road, on May 13 at 10:30 a.m. Remembrances can be made to the Memorial Fund at Stella Chapel. Columbia Funeral Service is in charge of arrangements.
