He was born November 1, 1913 in Melbourne, Arkansas to William and Annettie Wilson. In 1930, John came to Washington State and worked in Chelan County orchards before moving to Snohomish in 1933. Bickford Motors of Snohomish employed him in their service department until 1942 when he joined the Army Air Corp. He served in Sudan and Egypt until December 1945. He then returned to Snohomish and resumed his work with Bickford Motors. In 1950, he married long time love, Anne M. Bueler, of Snohomish. In 1953, he and colleague, Harold Nichols, created a Ford auto dealership in Winlock, WA where he lived and worked until he retired in 1979. John was an active participant in the Winlock community and was a member of Sacred Heart Church, Lions Club, American Legion, NRA and the Knights of Columbus. In 1987, he and Anne moved back to Snohomish. In his retirement years they enjoyed gardening, camping, fishing and traveling with friends and relatives. In 2002, they moved to Wenatchee to be closer to their oldest daughter, Rosanne Gence. He is survived by his wife of 55 years, Anne; daughters, Rosanne (Roger) Gence of Wenatchee; Janice Mott of Longview and Kay Wilson of Fairbanks, Alaska. Granddaughters Aimee (Eric) Chase of Spokane, Jennifer (Charlie) Estanol of Ruston and grandson Tyler Gence, US Army, stationed in Germany. Even as his health was failing, he was able to hold his only great granddaughter, Brynn AnneMarie Chase. His sister Joyce Borden survives him. Funeral services will be held January 27 at St. Michaels Catholic Church in Snohomish. Rosary at 10:00 followed by the funeral Mass at 11:00. Graveside services at the GAR cemetery in Snohomish to follow. Arrangements are by Bauer Funeral Chapel in Snohomish, WA. Remembrances may be made to Central Washington Home Care and Hospice in Wenatchee, WA or to your local hospice. We are very grateful to and want to express our special thanks to the wonderful staff of Highgate House, Columbia River Home Care, Norma Ramirez and his other caregivers and Central Washington Home Health and Hospice for their wonderful and loving care and attention to our husband and father.
