Frankie "Frank" Carl Wimer passed away Thursday, October 13, 2005 at his home in Woodland following a courageous 19 month battle with a brain tumor. Frank was born July 15, 1947 in Colby, Kansas to Frances "Jack" S. Wimer and Eileen I. (Bowen) Harlin. He moved with his family to the Kelso area in 1956. In the early 60's Frank moved back to Kansas where he resided with his maternal grandmother. In 1964 Frank joined the Navy where he served as a boiler technician aboard the USS Paul Revere until his honorable discharge in 1968. During his enlistment he made deploys to Vietnam carrying troops and supplies. Upon his discharge he went to work for the Weyerhaeuser Fire Dept. where he worked for 6 months before he transferred to the Weyerhaeuser Pulp Power House where he was employed for the next 5 years. In the mid 70's he following his lifelong dream of driving truck. He drove for various construction, logging, chip and long haul companies. Since 1989 he was self-employed as an owner- operator most currently being leased to Boise Cascade Trucking Co. until his illness forced an early retirement in January 2004. Frank married Linda (Robinson) on October 6, 1972 in Kelso. They had just celebrated their 33rd anniversary. In 1981 they moved their family from Kelso to Woodland. Frank is surved by his wife, daughter Angela Lane, from a previous marriage, of College Station, Texas, daughter and son-in-law Joanna and Dennis Karjola of Woodland, a son and daughter-in-law Justin and Elizabeth Wimer of Vacaville, California. He is also survived by sisters Carolyn Krieder of Kelso, Martha Tienhaara of Naselle, and brothers Larry Wimer of Longview and Richard Wimer of Kelso. He also leaves granddaughters Kiarra and Kyleigh Vining of College Station, Texas; Janelle and Allison Karjola of Woodland and a grandson Garrett Karjola of Woodland, numerous nieces and nephews and many dear friends. He was preceded in death by his father Frances in 1990, his mother Eileen in 1996 and a sister Greta Tucker in 2003. Frank enjoyed being around his family and his special friends that drove the highways with him. Any Saturday morning that he was in town you would find him at the local coffee shop catching up on all the local happenings with his friends. Frank was a member of the Woodland Nazarene Church where he attended services when he was home. A memorial service will be held Saturday, October 22, 2005 at 11:00 a.m. at the Woodland Nazarene Church, 2000 Lewis River Rd. Inurnment will take place at a later date at Frank Abel Cemetery in Woodland. Memorial contributions may be made to the Gideons International, North Clark County Camp, P.O.
