He was born July 15, 1920 at White Bird, Idaho. He was the son of Donald J. and Alice (Wilson) Wolcott. He was raised in Idaho and graduated from White Bird High School in 1938 and then attended Weister Agricultural Tech in Weister, Idaho. He served in the U.S. Army during WWII in the Asiatic Theater. He married Bernace Gillett on May 23, 1940 in Grangeville, Idaho. For many years, he worked as a Cattle Rancher and as a Logger, on the Salmon River, in Idaho. He and Bernace had spent time in Cathlamet, WA over the years and he had worked in the woods here, as a Timber Faller, until he was injured. Then followed a few years in Reno, Nevada, after which time, they became "Snowbirds" from 1982 until 1994, and enjoyed traveling. They returned to Cathlamet, WA and made that their permanent home in 1994. He was a "devoted" family man, had a great love for his children and grandchildren, and was always interested in their lives and what they were doing. He was a person who enjoyed people and had a great "sense of humor". He also loved to be outdoors, fishing, and had many and varied interests. Calvin was a member of the Cathlamet Seventh Day Adventist Church. He is survived by his wife, Bernace, at home in Cathlamet; his four sons and daughters-in-law; John and Ada Anne Wolcott of Astoria, OR, Jim and Petey Wolcott of Sebastian, Florida, Jerry and Joanne Wolcott of Libby, Montana, and Don and Beckie Wolcott of Cathlamet, WA; and a sister and brother-in-law; Doris and Floyd Hoelker of Sparks, Nevada; 13 grandchildren, 19 ½ great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and by a granddaughter, Jerilea Wolcott. A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, May 6, 2006 at 2:00 p.m. at the Seventh Day Adventist Church in Cathlamet, WA. A private family inurnment will take place at Greenwood Cemetery.
