John Henry Woods, 98, of Longview died March 12, 2006. 

He was born July 5, 1907, in Colfax, La., to Perry and Mary Jane (Harris) Woods 
and moved to the local area from Portland in 1967. 

Mr. Woods served 22 years in the Army, retiring as a sergeant first class in 
1955. He later worked for Messick Janitorial for several years. 

He was preceded in death by his wife, Audrey L. Woods, in 2004. 

Mr. Woods is survived by a daughter, Johanna Woods; five stepdaughters, Cynthia 
Mattson, Denise Oldroyd, Victoria Washington, Tanya Donahue and Maryk Gilles; 
four stepsons, Albert Washington III, Deone Washington, Wade Washington and 
Carl Washington; and numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren. 

A funeral service will be held at 1:30 p.m. Friday at Willamette National 
Cemetery in Portland. 

Memorial contributions may be made the Kelso American Legion Post No. 25, 302 
Allen St., Kelso, WA 98626. 

Arrangements are by Columbia Funeral Service.
