Douglas County Press July 1, 1909
A trial in Justice FRIEL's court attracted much attention from the prominence 
of the parties and the nature of the case.

Schuyler ROCK and J. W. CUNNINGHAM of Lamoine arrested for fast auto driving.  
He met Mr. CUNNINGHAM and his horse became frightened and ran away.  After 
hearing the evidence the court fined Mr. CUNNINGHAM $5.  The case was appealed 
however, through Attorney W. J. CANTON.  This was the first auto case in the 
county.
