BROWNFIELD John C. Brownfield was born 12 Sep 1841 in Bates County, Missouri. In 1861 he enlisted in the Union Army and served three years and nine months. In 1864 he was united in marriage to Emily J. Thomas and to this union nine children were born, five of whom survive him. In the spring of 1884 he moved with his family to Washington Territory landing at Spokane and two years later moved to Douglas county and settled on a homestead near where Waterville now stands. He moved to Farmer in 1892 and then to Prosser in 1907 where his wife died. In 1909 he moved to Sunnyside where he lived until his death. In 1910 he married Mrs. Margaret Speaker who survives him. The funeral was hel at his old home place at Farmer conducted by Rev. W. J. Cannon of Entiat, Wash. 1900 census Douglas Co. WA - Silico - Dist 14 John C. Brownfield age 58 b.
