CIVIL WAR VETERAN BURIED

Lewellyn Woodin, Civil War veteran and old-time resident of the Withrow 
country, died at his home in Withrow last Saturday at the age of 75 years, 
after an extended illness.  For the past two years he has been almost blind.

Deceased was born in Warren Co., Pennsylvania August 22, 1846.  He was married 
to Bulda [sic] Schooley in Michigan June 14, 1868.  He moved to Missouri in 
1887 and came to Washington in 1908.  He was the father of thirteen children, 
four of whom are dead and nine living including Mrs. Winnie Montgomery and Earl 
and Arthur of Withrow.

Mr. Woodin enlisted in the army at the age of sixteen years, in Co. E., 145th )
[Pennsylvania] infantry, July 29, 1862.  He was wounded at Spottsylvania 
Courthouse.  After recovering he again entered the Fight at Gettysburg.  He 
served as an orderly to General Grant at the time of Lee's surrender at 
Appomatox.

The funeral was held Sunday with burial in the new Withrow cemetery.  J. F. 
Badger, Michael Eckert and C. A. Talcott, old soldiers of this city, attended.  
The American Legion was represented by Tom Cole, Frank Malloy, S. N. McKeehan 
and Laurence Smith.  C. A. Talcott made a few very appropriate remakrs at the 
grave.
