At Pataha City in Garfield County, WA. This is in bad repair, overgrown with weeds and not many stones still standing. Copied April 8, 1968. Located (according to a 1913 Standard Atlas of the county) in Pataha Precinct; R42E T12N Sec 35. The following statement is from an article written for the Daughters of the Pioneers, Nov. 1966: "There are many unmarked graves, remains of wooden fences and slabs and no doubt there could have been many older graves. Pataha, as you may know, was once larger and more thriving than Pomeroy until the railroad stopped at Pomeroy. However, Pomeroy as a settlement is slightly older. There was an old city cemetery above the present one on the hill, which was mostly moved years ago, but even then there were unmarked graves, so facts are scarce." Elaine (TRESCOTT) ANDERSON and Barbara (TRESCOTT) BARTELS abstracted articles from early county newspapers, namely the "Washington Independent" and the "East Washingtonian" and I have added burials noted in the papers but no marker found for them.
