Llbend@aol.com ---------------------------------------------------------- Krupp(Marlin)Cemetery T22N R30E Section13 The Krupp(Marlin(Cemetery began in 1903 when Mrs. Peterson died and there was no place to bury her. The Urquhart brothers donated 4.2 acres of land for that purpose. George and Helen Urquhart had already buried two of their children at the ranch and early on they had them reburied in the Cemetery. The Krupp Valley Cemetery Association was formed and between June 27, 1914 and July 6, 1914 Deeds, and Dedication were completed and signed and witnessed by the following people: CZ Haskins and WC Dashiel,President and Secretary of the Association and Chas. Martin, Chairman pro tem of the County board of Commisioners, EH Stradding, County Eng- ineer and CG Jeffers County Attorney. There are no markers on the earlier graves, however newspaper accounts verify that Mrs. Peterson was the first person buried there. Larry and Lenore Lenz walked the Cemetery in rows beginning at the gate and going south to north and back again til the west end and then continuing in rows on the South side the same way. The main part of the Cemetery is enclosed in a fairly new chain link fence, gated and tied shut with twine. The South side of the Cemetery is connected with a barbed wire fence. As the stolry goes, early on a gentleman who lived South of town commited suicide. There were protests against him being buried in the Cemetery, however,George Urquhart who donated the land had different ideas about it. He persisted and a compromise was reached where Jesse Farmer's grave is at the very Southeast side of othe Cemetery. His grave is enclosed in a very nice pickett fence and can be easily found even though there is no marker on it. To reach the Krupp(Marlin)Cemetery from Odessa, WA. drive West on State Highway 28 for 18 miles. you'll see a Marlin Sign, turn to the North and travel about 3 miles--you'll see Marlin as you go down a fairly steep hill traveling to the left. Instead of going into Marlin stay on the road and pass an old concrete/stucco building on your right. After 1/4 mile you will see a sign that says Marlin Cemetery on the right side of the road. Turn left(South) . The Cemetery is about 1/4 up a dirt road.
