At the "Y" turn east (left) onto Cemetery Road and travel approximately 0.4 mile. Oakville Cemetery will be on the south side of the road. Original Cemetery, T16N R4W Section 32 New addition, T16N R4W Section 31. The Oakville Cemetery Association was formed in June 1894 by Edith VanWinkle, Kate Draggoo, E. P. Bagshaw, Dexter Newton, and C. N. Mills, and acknowledged by Boliver S. Toothman, Justice of the Peace. The association operated the cemetery until August 1946 when the Town of Oakville assumed operation of the cemetery. I have been collecting and researching information on the Oakville Cemetery for several years. I have examined records at the Oakville Town Hall and also obtained information from several family members and Oakville area residents. One in particular the Vosper family. Bill Vosper (deceased) was the caretaker of the cemetery for many years and his nephew Jim Vosper is active in Oakville area history and genealogy. To "truth" my research, I have physically walked the cemetery many times often solving one mystery yet finding another. As one might expect, there is still much work to be done This has been an interesting project and I hope to continue working to improve the information for genealogists (family History).
