Goodell, Elma Pioneer, Dies. Services will be held Saturday in Elma for Otis J. Goodell, widely known in Tacoma and Southwest Washington, who died Aug. 23 in St. Louis while on a vacation trip with his son-in-law and daughter, Mr. and Mrs. Robert Munz, former Tacomans. Mr. Goodell, who served on Elma's city council for 20 years, was known in Tacoma through his statewide activities with the Odd Fellows lodge and Spanish-American War veterans. He was born in Elma, the son of pioneers who were married in Grand Mound during an Indian uprising. From his rich background of Western Washington history, Mr. Goodell supplied much material for the writings of the late Prof. Edmund Meany of the University of Washington. His sister worked with Tacoma's Della Gould Emmons writing a history of pioneer days in Whatcom county. Besides Mrs. Muntz, Mr. Goodell is survived by another daughter, Mrs. Arnold Bader of Tacoma, and five grandchildren. Additional Comments: Born 2 Apr 1881, son of Melancthon Zwingle (M.Z.)
