Clifford M. Mercer, 35, 333 Gale street, a Hoquiam resident for the past 28 years, died at an Aberdeen hospital last night, following a lingering illness. He was born in Hamilton, Ont., Canada. Mercer was assistant log buyer for Rayonier Incorporated. He was graduated from Hoquiam high school in 1934 and was a member of Our Lady of Good Help Catholic church, the Knights of Columbus, and the Hoquiam Elks lodge. Survivors include his wife, Irene; two daughters, Marilyn and Christine; a father and step-mother, Mr. and Mrs. Alex Mercer, and a brother, Graham, all of Hoquiam; one aunt, Miss May Mercer, in England, and one uncle, Clifford Menzies, Detroit, Mich. Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Monday at Our Lady of Good Help Catholic church with the Rev. M. O'Donnell officating. Vault entombment will follow at Sunset Memorial park under the direction of Pinnick-Coleman. Pallbearers will be John Earley, Edwin McIntosh, Anthony Lonac, Hervey Lawrence, Edward Vincent, and Whilton Vincent.
