Burial list of Camano Pioneer Cemetery transcribed and submitted by Ralph Seefeld December, 2000. Both above notices must remain when copied or downloaded. seefeld@whidbey.com -------------------------------------------------------------------------- CAMANO PIONEER CEMETERY, Camano Island, Washington T32N R3E Section 20 Markers read in September, 1998 by Ralph Seefeld and Maureen MacDonald, members of the Genealogical Society of South Whidbey Island. This cemetery is located approximately four miles west of Stanwood on highway 532 at Terry's Corner where it divides into North Camano Drive and Camano Drive. The cemetery was originally platted in 1887; lots 41 to 98 were added in 1907; lots 99 to 117 were added at an unknown later date. There are some monument bases present without their monuments. A neighboring farmer told us that the eastern portion of the cemetery was dedicated for burial of paupers and that there are many unmarked graves there. We are indebted to Myrtle Duboiski and Clara C. Matthias who prepared a gravestone listing in 1963 and which we found at the Seattle Public Library. We have taken this list as a guide and starting point, verified names and dates, made corrections as necessary, and added more recent burials. Information for those burials listed with no marker was obtained from two different lists found at the LDS Family History Center in Everett, WA in 1998. These lists were on loose sheets of paper and there was no indication of where they came from. One, a single sheet, is dated March 19, 1984. The other, three pages in length, is headed: CAMANO ISLAND PIONEER CEMETERY: Feb'y 7, 1887. R. May 23, 1889.
