TOWERR@dshs.wa.gov ----------------------------------------------------------------------- Auburn Pioneer Cemetery T21N R5E Section 18 Auburn Pioneer Cemetery is located at 8th NE and Auburn Way North, near Fred Meyer, it is part of the Auburn Cemetery system. The land was donated on the 14th of January 1889 by Charles A. Williams and wife Mary. Previous names of the cemetery were: Faucett Cemetery, Cemetery at Slaughter, Japanese Cemetery and Pioneer Cemetery. Many of the headstones are broken or missing. Some headstones have been moved to Mountain View Cemetery or Hillcrest Burial Park in Kent. There is a 14 year gap between the closure of the Pioneer Cemetery and the opening of Mountain View. Many of the stones are in Japanese. Information filled in by information from Mountain View Cemetery records, Slaughter Plat Map and a Japanese scroll with translations of the Japanese headstones.
