Mrs.Stanley Smith.with whom the young girl loves, found the infant in its shallow grave in the rear of her barn half an hour after the deed was committed. Its little mouth had been stuffed with dirt and hay.It was still breathing, but died a few minutes after being taken into Mrs.Smith's house. The girl arrived in Franklin four months ago from New York, where she landed from Poland about the first of the year. Tuesday morning Miss Busch went to an outhouse and was seen to go from there to the barn. When she returned Mrs.Smith asked her what she was doing and the girl refused to reply. In half an hour Mrs.Smith decided to go check the barn and see what was wrong. As she passed the rear she notice a dog pawing the ground, and making an investigation, dragged the child from its improvised grave.
