Stanley was born September 29, 1936 in Portsmouth, New Hampshire.

He graduated from the US Naval Academy in 1958, serving on the USS William C.
Lowe and USS Luce, and joining the submarine force in 1965.   After other tours
of duty and assignments, he retired from the Navy in 1991.

Stan is survived by his wife of 54 years Ellie; children Jeff (Kathy), Margie
and Greg (Maggie); brother David; sister Priscilla McFarland (Wes).
