He was a native of St. Louis and a graduate of the US Army War College, in 
addition to other colleges and universities.   He served in the Marine Corps 
and then as a National Guard Reservist retiring as a Colonel from the US 
Army after 34 years of military service.

He was predeceased by his wife Phyllis (Gold) Cohen.

He is survived by his children Jim, Judy Faintich, JoAnn, Rick, Peggy King 
and Jeanne McKinnon; and a sister Margie Sokol.
