James was born June 12, 1931 in Tacoma, WA to Floyd Raymond and Minnie 
Frieda (Harm) Cole.

After graduation from High School in 1949 he served in the US Coast Guard on 
the Bonham, Fir, and Northwind, earning the rank of Petty Officer, First 
Class.

In 1956 he married Shirley Maxine Lindros from Coos Bay, OR.   She died in 
1966.    In 1968 he married Myrna Marie Dean, who died in 2008.

He is survived by his children from his first wife: Gretchen, Jonathan 
(Jaquie), Daniel and Barton; and his sister Elizabeth (Betty).
