John was born June 24, 1925 in Baltic, Connecticut.

He served in the US Marine Corps from 1942 to 1948, serving with the 4th Marine
Division in the South Pacific, including battles of Roi-Namur, Saipan, Tinian
and Iwo Jima.   He spent his final two years of service as a member of the
Presidential Honor Guard in Washington, DC.

He is survived by his wife of 67 years Betty, and sister Clarice Proulx.
