Dwight was born October 11, 1915 in Excelsior, MN to Jacob and Annie Victoria
(Johnson) Elving.

He graduated from North Park Seminary and McCormick Theological Seminary and
served churches in Iowa, California, Connecticut, Illinois, and Missouri.

He married Esther Helena Holmlund on June 27, 1942.

He was preceded in death by his parents, and his wife Esther (d. 1988); and
siblings Marian Ness and Carl Elving.

He is survived by daughter Carol Anderson; son Ronald D. Elving; and his sister
Vivian Tideman.
