John Donald (Feuerstein) Firestone 
May 10, 1918 ~ April 19, 2010
Don grew up in Portland, Oregon.  It’s there that he met the love of his life, 
Phyllis Jean Craig.  Phyllis was an elevator operator for Meier and Frank dept. 
store and Don was working for Lionel Trains when he stepped into Phyllis’s 
elevator, it was love at first sight.  Married in 1942, they lived in Portland 
Oregon until 1957.  From there they moved to Spokane, Washington where they 
made their home for the next 50 years. In December of 2007 they moved to 
Seattle, Washington to be close to family.  
Don had several jobs throughout his life time, accounting clerk, shipbuilder, 
World War II vet, cab dispatcher, sales manager, purchasing agent, supervisor 
of area cable installations, retiring as district supervisor for Henkel and 
McCoy in 1982.
After retirement he keep busy with several hobbies that he enjoyed, yard work, 
online poker, wood working, designing and inventing,  always finding a way to 
make something work better or easier. 
He was a proud life member of El Katif Shriners, Spokane, WA. 
Preceded in death by his parents, John Peter Feuerstein and Kathryn Sinner.  
Preceded in death also by his wife of 66 years Phyllis Jean Craig, and his 
brother Evan Richard Firestone.   Don is survived by his two older sisters 
Dorothy Kathryn Andrews, and Frances Estelle Town;  His four children and their 
spouses; J. Dennis Firestone, Pennie J. McCallum, Jeffery D. Firestone, and 
Jill K. Firestone; 5 grandchildren; and 6 great grandchildren. In lieu of
