Ruth was born in Vining, MN in October 1927 to Otto and Cora (Oak) Tollefson.
She had a twin sister Ruby.

She married Randolph Garthe in 1951.

Ruth was preceded in death by her parents Otto and Cora; husband of 53 years
Randy (2004); brothers Otto, Wesley and James.

She is survived by her twin sister Ruby Shockley; brother Richard; and children
William, Robert and Mary Ruth Ditto.
