Martin was born in Seattle on November 8, 1927 to Oscar and Cora Gustavson.

After High School graduation in 1945 he enlisted in the US Navy.

He served many years with the Seattle Fire Department, retiring as a Lieutenant.

He is survived by Joyce, his wife of 67 years; children Kay Seelig (Russell),
Christine Jamison (John) and William Martin Gustavson.
