Leonard was born April 12, 1925 in Palisade, Nebraska.

He served in the US Navy during World War II and was scheduled to visit the 
WWII memorial via a Puget Sound Honor flight just four days after his death.

He was preceded in death by two wives Wanda and Elaine, and son Ken.

Leonard is survived by daughters Sharon Chandler, Lori Josefski and Sandy 
Johnson; daughter-in-law Debra Johnson; stepsons Gary, Duane and Neal Tripp
