He served during World War II, earning his Navy pilot wings. He was recalled to active duty as a Navy pilot in 1950 to serve in the Korean War and after combat duty taught navigation at the Navy School of Preflight in Pensacola, Florida for two years. He married Virginia McLallin in January 1960. He was preceded in death by his brothers Milton, Howard,and Albert and sisters Eunice Haberzetle Bengston, Helen Schock and Grace Jones Faulkner. He is survived by his wife Virginia; brother Duane Kaiser; children Kristine Kaiser Crilly (James), Kathleen Kaiser Quickstad (John) and Steve Kaiser.
