William was born in Stanwood, WA December 7, 1922 to Trygve and Bess Lien.

He was a fighter pilot in the Army Air Corps during World War II.

He married Elaine Harris on November 8, 1952, who preceded him in death.

He married Susan Tulp on August 29, 2007.

He is survived by his second wife Susan; his son Todd Lien (Jodi) and his
daughter Lori Everett (Dr. Albert Everett Jr.).
