John was born in 1920 to William O. and Dora Kearns McKenzie in Springville, Utah.

After graduating from the University of Washington on an ROTC scholarship, he
served as a commissioned officer in the US Navy, servingt in the South Pacific
during World War II.

He married Marilyn Smith.

Jack is survived by his wife of 54 years, Marilyn; step-daughters Christopher
Carol Gee (David) and Quincy Anderson (Ken Pilcher).
