Albert was born on November 21, 1926, in Eindhoven, The Netherlands.

He is survived by his wife of sixty years, Marianne, his daughters, Erika, 
Karen, Sabien and Alaine.

He was an Emeritus Professor of the University of Pennsylvania and an Affiliate 
Professor at the University of Washington, in Seattle.
