Ruth was born to Louis and Bertha (Nathan) Hamlet in Bielefeld, Germany on April
3, 1913.

She fled the Nazis with her older sisters Ottilie and Thea in 1938 and settled
in Seattle,

She married Henry Schocken, also a German immigrant, in 1941.

Ruth is survived by her children Joe (Judy), Alan (Jane) and Barbara Lahav (Eli).
