Charles was born in July 9, 1923 in Seattle to Dr. Edmund H. Smith and Lorene
May Evans.

He graduated from the University of Oregon Medical School in 1948.

He married Marilyn Greene.   She preceded him in death in 1987.

Bob married Kathryn Casady in 1995.

He is survived by his wife Kathryn, and children Susan Roberta Lonegran,
Patricia Joyce Smith and James Edmund Smith.
