Thomas was born in North Bend, WA on February 6, 1928 to Mattie and Oscar Thoreson.

In 1948 he married Shirley M. Johnson, who preceded him in death in 2007.

Tom is survived by his children Vicki Anderson (Larry), Corky Thoreson (Robin),
Terri Frohnmayer (Bill) and Tommy Thoreson (Angie).
