Geraldine was born in Seattle in March 1921 to Paul and Pauline "Rae" Griesel.

She married Milford Vanik (a widower with a young son) in 1949.   Milford died
in 2003.

She is survived by sons Dr. Rick Vanik (Rachel) and R. J. Vanik; stepson Allen
Vanik; and her brother Bob Griesel (Lynn).
