A request was made by the ladies of the Women's Shelter for pizza and so the Pizza was ordered and delivered. They also had salad and desserts. Normally on Saturdays, the shelter has only cold items for lunch and pizza is a real treat. We purchased a selection of items to show the congregation what types of donations we needed. People involved: Cheryl Kohring did the initial planning, Kathy Lassman handled advertising for the collection of items and processing the items as they were received, Ernie Lassman ordering the lunch items and delivery, untold congregational members donating the items taken to the shelter. With each Thrivent project we are receiving more and more donations as our congregation becomes aware of the needs in the community and how something they no longer want/need can be put to good use by someone else. Along with the 20 pizzas for the 50 women, this shelter had requests for a number of other items, which are what we requested our congregational members to donate. The total of these items delivered was: 10 rolling suitcases, 15 tote bags, 14 travel mugs, a suitcase full of knitting and crocheting supplies, a suitcase full of child art/craft supplies including 12 activity books, devotionals and paperback books (most of these items were donated by congregational members). We have a bulletin board display of the Thrivent projects that we have completed so far, so the congregation can see how their donations of used items are making a difference in someone else's life. Pearl was born April 13, 1927 in Denver, CO to George W. and Amanda (Teeters) Howard. She was preceded in death by her husband of nearly 60 years, Charles L. Wolf and by her four brothers and two sisters. She is survived by daughter Kathleen (Dave) Sacry; son Richard (Karen), son James.
