She married Joseph S. Behen 12 Jan 1876 in Ouachita Parish, Monroe, Lousiana St. Matthews Catholic Church. Joseph came over to this country from Ireland with his brothers Tom, Willie and Denis. Mary Elizabeth had one daughter Mary Elizabeth Behen born 14 Oct 1876, married an Orth , died 20 Dec 1970. In a letter to her cousin Samuel Scott in Louisiana dated January 9 1968, Mary Orth says she had 2 daughters, Geraldine who lived in Star Lake and Winifred and two sons Harold from Anacortes, Wa. and Joe who lived in Arco, Idaho. Mary says her sons are 62 and 52 and the girls 59 and 61. Mary herself was 91 years old at the time the letter was written and living in a nursing home on Pacific Highway South. She signs her letters Lizzie. Her memories have been a big help in researching the Dabbs family. She proudly says she has 20 grandchildren and that one of her granddaughters has the Behen family Bible with all the family records in it written by her Father who was a beautiful writer. Mary Elizabeth Behen and Joseph Behen had three sons Joseph E., James W. and Christopher Dabbs. The family moved to St. Louis, Mo. after the death of her Mother Julia Washington Bourgeat Muse Dabbs in 1890. They later migrated to the Seattle, Washington, King County area. Christopher Dabbs Behen shown in this picture was born 8 Oct 1880. His Sister Mary Elizabeth Behen Orth says in her letters that Christopher had a Daughter Lucille. A letter from her Daughter Mary Elizabeth indicates her Mother had 11 children and only the oldest 4 survived to adulthood. Seven little ones she says died with childhood diseases under 3 1/2 years and are buried in St. Matthews Catholic Cemetery in Monroe, Louisianal.
