WIFE OF FIRST CHRISTIAN MINISTER OF COUNTY DIES. MRS. SARAH BAILES DIES AT AGE OF 86 AT THE HOME OF HER SON. Mrs. Sarah Marshall Bailes died last evening [January 31, 1919] at the home of her son, George Bailes at London, Oregon, at the age of 86. Mrs. Bailes was born near Springfield, Mo., April 27, 1833, and was married there a number of years later to Keathly Bailes. They came across the plains with an ox team landing in the Kittitas Valley in 1877 where they lived a number of years. Rev. Bailes was the first Christian minister in this county and preached here for years. They moved away from this vicinity a number of years ago and have lived in California and Oregon until the time of Rev. Bailes' death, four years ago. Since that time Mrs. Bailes has spent part of the time here with her children and part of the time in Oregon. She leaves children, four of whom are residents of Ellensburg, three daughters, Mrs. W. H. Rader, Mrs. T. C. Brown and Mrs. Frank Barnhart, and a son Andy Bailes. The body will be brought here for burial and the funeral will probably take place on Tuesday.
