Charlton, 69, died Saturday [September 30, 1978] at her home on Route 5. She was born Oct. 22, 1908 at Ellensburg, a daughter of the late Fred C. and Margaruite Schnebly. She graduated from Washington State College in 1930 with a degree in home economics. She attended Merle Palmer College, a subsidiary of Northwestern University and taught nursery school at WSC and the University of Washington in the education department. She started one of the first private nursery schools in the Northwest in 1931. She and Max Charlton were married in Ellensburg in April 1933. They farmed in the Fairview District until his death in February 1977. She was a member of the First Christian Church, Progressive Club, Jolly Neighbors, Fairview Homemakers and was a past member of the Grange, Farm Bureau and Cattlemen's Association. She is survived by two sons, David of Ellensburg and Paul of Okanogan; five grandchildren; and one brother, Henry Schnebly of Ellensburg. Funeral will be Wednesday at 2 p.m. at Evenson Chapel. The Rev. Bill Dietz will officiate and burial will be at the IOOF Cemetery. Family suggests memorials to charity of donor's choice.
