Cooke, 66, a lifetime resident of Ellensburg, died Friday, September 11, 1992 at St. Elizabeth's Medical Center in Yakima, after a long illness. Mr. Cooke was the youngest child of Guy and Catherine (Shotwell) Cooke. He lived most of his life within a few miles of his birthplace, on Naneum Road. As a boy he was active in 4-H and FFA. He attended grade and middle school in Kittitas and graduated from Ellensburg High School in 1944. After graduation he served as a aviation cadet in the U. S. Air Force. He then returned home to ranch with his father. In July 1950 he married Sally Overton. After ranching for 16 years, the ranch was sold and together both became real estate brokers, opening Valley Brokers, Inc. They were active in the business until Glen's illness forced his retirement in 1977. Prior to his illness, Glen was active in various farm organization past master of Naneum Grange and Farm Bureau. He was a port commissioner and instrumental in the dissolution of the Kittitas County Port District. He served on the Board of Equalization. He was a member of Grace Episcopal Church and a past member of the Elks and the Moose. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and after retirement tried his hand at gold mining. He was a longtime member of the Fairview Volunteer Fire Department. Mr. Cooke is survived by his wife, Sally, at the family home; two daughters, Glenda Sederstrom and Mary Pettit and her husband Bill, of Spokane; grandson, Mathew Sederstrom; granddaughters, Kristin and Katie Sederstrom, Tara Pettit, of Spokane, and Diana Allemand, of Ellensburg. He is also survived by his mother-in-law, Ellen Overton, of Spokane, three sisters, one brother and numerous nieces and nephews. Mr. Cooke was preceded in death by his parents and his son Daniel, who passed away in December 1991. Memorial services will be at 1 p.m., Saturday, September 19, 1992 at Grace Episcopal Church in Ellensburg. Father Eugene Van Beveren will officiate.
