All rights reserved. http://www.usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm ************************************************ Contributed by: Shelli Steedman 4/20/2007 Mrs. Peter (Minnie) Michels, 88, one of the Kittitas Valley's oldest native daughters, died Sunday, January 7 [1968] at the Bernath Nursing Home. The daughter of William and Mary Taylor, valley pioneers, she was born in a cabin near the present Bull Road south and east of Ellensburg on April 25, 1879. As a small child she moved with her parents to the family homestead in the Fairview District in the early 80's, and lived there until the family moved into Ellensburg in 1898. She attended local schools in the rural areas. In 1902 she married in Tacoma to Peter Michels. They made their home at 1108 B Street until Mr. Michels' death in 1942. She had remained at her home until failing health forced her to enter the nursing home several months ago. She is survived by two nephews, Bill M. Taylor and Frank Taylor; two nieces, Lois a. Taylor and Mrs. James Kelly, all of Ellensburg; and three cousins.
