George Minielly, 63, well known Kittitas Valley resident, fell dead yesterday
[October 27, 1941] afternoon on the Clint Garrison ranch on Route 1, where he
was operating a hay baler.  He was standing on a wagon when he suddenly
toppled over, apparently dying almost instantly from a heart attack or an
attack of apoplexy.

A resident of the valley for nearly half a century, Minielly formerly had
farmed and for many years had operated a baler.  He is survived by his wife,
Mrs. Addie Minielly, and a daughter, Mrs. Myrtle Fray, both of Ellensburg,
and a son, Stanley Minielly, of Hermiston, Ore.

He was born February 4, 1872, in Watford, Ontario, Canada.  He left home at
the age of 15 years and came west to Fairhaven, Wash.  He spent some time in
Orcas Island and in 1893 went to Indiana and Oklahoma and Kansas City.  He
returned to Tacoma and then went to the Yakima Valley, where he worked for
two years before moving to the Kittitas Valley in 1896.  Here he bought a hay
press, which he has operated in season ever since.  In 1889 he bought a 40-
acre farm on the West Side and lived there until 1916, when he sold the farm
and moved to Ellensburg.

He was married December 25, 1898, to Addie Ellen Ferguson, a native of the
Kittitas Valley.  Funeral services were held at the Honeycutt Chapel Thursday
afternoon at 8 o'clock, with Rev. W. H. Thompson officiating.  Funeral
arrangements were held up pending arrival of the son from Oregon.  [Burial
was in the IOOF Cemetery].
