Sprague, died at Kittitas Valley Community Hospital Monday [January 20, 1969]. Born in Waynesville, NC, he moved to Goldendale at the age of 2. He came to Ellensburg as a young man. He was employed by Clarence Palmer, a livery stable and moved to Omak where he worked in a sawmill for 20 years. Smathers moved back to Ellensburg in 1952. Married to Lena Wright in 1914, she preceded him in death in 1941. He married Mamie Krogh Polley June 19, 1914 at Omak. He is survived by his wife; one stepson, Wayne Polley, Seattle; a step-daughter, Mrs. Gene Meyer, Tacoma; one brother, John Smathers, Toppenish; five grandchildren, 11 great grandchildren, and a niece, mrs. George Minton, Ellensburg. Funeral services will be conducted Evenson's chapel Thursday at 2 p.m. with the Rev. Alvin Lustie officiating. Burial will be at IOOF Cemetery. ********************** Dillard was known as Lee. He was married three times. His first wife was Nellie Wyatt who he married on February 13, 1910. His second wife was Leona Wright who he married January 6, 1913. Lee's third wife was Mamie. His parents were R. Henry Smathers and Martha Etlidge.
