In 1897 Daniel Olson from near Sioux Falls, SD, purchased part of that Donation Land Claim. The next burials there were his wife and two of his daughters in 1899, 1901 and 1903. Daniel stipulated there be a monument for the family that would be "higher than the tree stumps," which still surrounded much of this land. Today, this large monument dominates the cemetery. Currently, in accordance with Lewis County regulations, all new stones are to be flat to facilitate mowing. The cemetery is 7/10 of an acre in size and can be reached from I-5 by traveling East about 7 1/2 miles on U. S. Highway 12 (which leads to Yakima and White Pass). Turn left onto the Leonard Road and proceed l mile; turn right and go 1/4 mile, look for a small sign on the right. Turn down a lane and drive ahead to the cemetery.
