He was born Sept. 30, 1918, in Garfield, Ark, and had lived in Washington for 69 years. He owned a tavern and worked in the logging industry. He retired from the Lewis County Road Department, where he worked as a heavy equipment operator. Survivors include his wife of 58 years, Alli Hilliard; three sons, Jack Hilliard, Dennis Hilliard and John Hilliard; one daughter, Adell Tellevik; a brother, Jimmie Hilliard; nine grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; and a great-great-granddaughter. Military graveside services and a reception were held March 17. Memorial contributions may be made to the Shannon Lewis Heart Fund, P.O. Box 777, Winlock, WA 98596 or to the Veterans Memorial Museum, 712 W. Main ST. Centralia, WA 98531. Cattermole Funeral Home in Winlock is in charge.
