Both above notices must remain when copied or downloaded. gillygon@televar.com ------------------------------------------------------------------------ Downs Cemetery T22N R35E Section 27 Downs Cemetery is long-abandoned, now over-grown with weeds and in danger of encroachment from a neighboring farmer. Most of the graves have been moved, all that is left is one lone stone and two fenced areas. Many stones and bodies have been moved to other cemeteries, including Hillcrest in Harrington. The cemetery is located 1/2 mile south of Downs in S27 T22N R35E, on the east side of McKinley Road at its intersection with Richardson Road. To get there, go SW from Harrington on Highway 28 to Doggett Road, then south about a mile to Downs Road, then follow it to McKinley for less than a mile to where it T's at Richardson. The cemetery is to the left, or east. This cemetery was walked in the summer of 1999 by Pat Rice and Marge Womach.
