Both above notices must remain when copied or downloaded. gillygon@televar.com ------------------------------------------------------------------------- McMillen Cemetery Lincoln County WA This cemetery was first walked by Marge Womach in 1991, again in 1994, and twice in 1999. The last three times were with Pat Rice who helped take measurements and pictures. The cemetery sits high on a hill overlooking surrounding wheat fields. The property was the homestead of Miles McMillen, a Civil War Veteran and originally had 30 to 40 stones. Over the years the McMillen's couldn't pay their taxes so the land was sold, without designating the cemetery. Farming practices have reduced the size of the cemetery and rumor has it that one farmer bragged of dozing all the stones into a pile. All that are left are four, two of those broken, another flat on its back. Current size of the cemetery is 174 feet north and south, following the ridge line. Width at the widest point is 24 feet, tapering to points on either end. Pictures are available through Pat Rice, Almira. w/o = wife of; h/o = husband of; s/o = son of; and d/o = daughter of.
